There is nothing peaceful in the world when It comes to chilling out in cafes with a mug of strong coffee. Whenever I head to visit a cafe, I would be curious to experience the ambience, food and how chilled the cafe would be to hang out. Koramangala and Indiranagar are my food addas when it comes to food. York St Koramangala is one of the cosy cafes located in the heart of lively locality of Koramangala.
A lazy evening turned out to be fun and memorable when we visited this cafe. We drove to Koramangala 5th block on a busy evening and this cafe is located right on the 1st A cross opposite to McDonald’s. There is no defined parking lot as such, we just managed to park along the roadside at our own risk (which was disappointing). The cafe looked great from the road.We took stairs to the second floor and stepped into the cafe.
When we entered a light logo of York St. welcomed us. Elegant filaments lightings wrapped in rope was the main attraction of the cafe. Beautiful interiors, comfortable wooden furniture, bricked walls add to the beauty. Cosy seatings with optimal lights are placed decently. Indoor plants, hanging creepers and vertical plants stacked up to give a natural touch. Apart from this, they have categories of books to read and relax. They have a little collection of Board games like Cards, Jenga, Monopoly, Chess, Ludo, Dartboard etc. Unfortunately, they have only one set each and it gets little disappointing when it’s being occupied with others. Overall Ambience is attractive and pretty. As mentioned in Zomato, there is no live music as such. It’s just a good playlist of songs played in the background. This cafe is one of the chilled out cafes I have visited in recent times.
Firstly I loved the menu card design which goes with the black and wooden theme. They serve European continental cuisine. They have a different menu for a variety of beverages. We ordered the York special rainbow drink – an option to mix up two flavours of our choice. We chose Rainbow mashup of Strawberry and Blue Curacao. It tasted great with crushed ice.
Coming for starters, we ordered Veg Tacos – which had oodles cream and tomato salsa. Tasted rich tangy and crispy. Yummy !!
We were hungry, so we jumped to the main course. We ordered Vegetable Steak – Included a fried vegetable patty with thyme sauce, butter rice and served with french fries. The patty tasted delicious but was little heavy. The butter rice was normal and good. The french fries were fresh and excellent.
While we dined we grabbed few board games – Jenga, Uno and started playing. It was fun and we could not realise how the time flew. We ordered more french fries to bite on as we played. As a desert, we ordered fried ice cream which satisfied our sweet tooth. The food here really impressed with quality and quantity and worth the money.
Service is pretty slow but the staff is really friendly and welcoming. You are allowed to hang out till 1 am without any hassles. Nobody bothers you until you call them. It follows first come first serve basis and they do not take reservations from Zomato. They provide good drinking water, unlike other cafes. The parking here is really not taken care of and is a big downside. There is no lift as such and also the stairs and passage leading to the cafe look creepy to walk in.
- Positive – Ambience, Chilled out cafe, Good food
- Negative – No defined parking, The number of board games can be improved.
- Cost for two – Rs.900
- Recommended dish – French fries and Tacos are a must try.
- Add-ons – Board games, Good playlist of songs
Overall Rating – 4.5
